Here are 5 ways you can be more inclusive in 2022:

1. Be a good host

When hosting friends, colleagues or associates (at home or at work), ensure your spaces are accessible. Move objects that can narrow entryways, provide alternate entrances without stairs, ensure there’s space to move freely.

2. Consider captions

Captions on meetings and social media are essential for people with hearing loss.

3. Pronouns

Add pronouns to your email signature, LinkedIn bio and social media.

4. Words matter.

Be mindful of the words you use to describe groups of people and eliminate harmful, hurtful or derogatory terms.

5. Advocate for people with disabilities

If you see something that needs fixing in your community, speak to your local government or MP to rectify the situation.

Remember that accessibility may look and feel different to everybody. A simple “What can I do to make it easier for you?” goes a long way while acknowledging the individual.
