Flamborough Hosts Inaugural Rolling Thunder Charity Golf Tournament
The inaugural Rolling Thunder Charity Golf Tournament (RTGT) took place at Flamborough Hills Golf and Country Club on Thursday May 23, 2019 and the sun certainly shone for our guests. Brian and Claire Campbell and the entire RTGT Team came out to not only test their skills on the green, but volunteer their time to give back to the SCIO community.
With around 50 golfers and over 65 guests joining for dinner and presentations, the day was filled with friendly competition, raffles, auctions and putting contests. During dinner, the Campbell’s shared their reason for giving back to the SCIO community and where their passion stems from. The support they received while in hospital, at rehab and now back at home from SCIO has been the driver for their desire to support and give back to SCIO. Brian and Claire even noted that they are in the process of becoming peer support volunteers for families going through what they have experienced. Claire recounted that “one of the first things Brian said after he woke up from his traumatic surgery was that he was worried he would never play golf again. Now, 18 months later, not only is he playing the sport again, but he is encouraging others with disabilities to continue doing what they love.”
