Peer Support Volunteer Awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers
SCIO Peer Support volunteer Marjorie Francoz has dedicated decades of her life to helping others.
On Tuesday April 9 – during National Volunteer Week – friends and family gathered at Zoomer Hall in Toronto to celebrate as Marjorie received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in honour of everything she has given back to the community.
There was a lively, loving and poignant atmosphere at the lunch time reception as Marjorie was reunited with old friends and people she’s supported in the past. Even Rick Hansen dropped by, via video, to send his regards and huge congratulations (see video below).
This was also the perfect occasion to announce the expanded family peer support arm of SCIO-Connect, our peer support program (see program video below). A huge thank you to ZoomerMedia for donating their beautiful space for this occasion, to all the SCIO staff and volunteers who helped out at the event and to Mark Wilson and his band for the awesome live music.
