Peer Connections: Aging with an SCI – Equipment

Thursday, May 20, 2021

Noticing changes with aging with an SCI? Asking, “what do I do now, how do I manage these changes?” With a grant secured from Craig H. Neilsen Foundation SCIO is developing a series of six e-learning courses on Aging with an SCI. The goal is to assist individuals with an SCI to live longer, healthier, fuller, active and productive lives. Peer Connections will be hosting a series of educational webinars over the next year providing accessible, current, expert and lived experience information on healthy aging strategies for individuals with an SCI.

Our first in the series is Equipment. Adaptive equipment and assistive devices can help you with day-to-day living. Many tools can help you manage your energy and keep you safe and independent at home. Sylvia Haycock is a Registered Occupational Therapist with extensive experience working with clients with neurological conditions. She will provide insights on how to stay safe and productive. We will also hear from several members of our community who will be sharing their experiences with aging and SCI and what strategies and equipment they have used.
