Peer Connections: Aging with SCI – Equipment

Thursday, September 22, 2022

Noticing changes while aging with an SCI? Are you asking, “what do I do now?”, “how do I manage these changes?” With a grant secured from Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, SCIO has developed a series of 6 eLearning courses on Aging with an SCI available on our Cortree Disability Education Centre, with the goal to increase the ability of individuals with SCI to live longer, healthier, fuller, active and productive lives.
In this part of the series we will look at tools that can help reduce the impact of aging. Learn about adaptive equipment and assistive devices that can help you with day-to-day needs as well as manage your energy and keep you safe and independent at home.

Guest Speaker
Sylvia Coates is a Registered Occupational Therapist with extensive experience working with clients with neurological conditions and complex clinical presentations. Sylvia’s current practice is with Complex Injury Rehab Inc. providing both clinic and community-based Occupational Therapy services.
