Celebrating our Sault Ste. Marie Community
On Tuesday, October 22 we celebrated our vibrant Sault Ste. Marie community. Volunteers, hospital staff, therapists, business owners, philanthropists and city employees gathered together to celebrate their common goal: creating an Ontario where people with spinal cord injuries can live the life they choose. The wonderful Water Tower Inn was the site of our celebration. Guests enjoyed a fantastic meal while being entertained by our charming master of ceremonies Tim Murphy, an accomplished entertainer and host of ONNtv’s Mornings with Lou-Anne and Tim. After dinner, Sault Ste. Marie Accessibilty Co-ordinator Nancie Scott took us through a presentation showing all the initiatives the city has put in place and continues to work on. The City of Sault Ste. Marie is committed to creating an environment that is accessible to all persons they serve and in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities. It was due to their commitment and wonderful partnership that we selected The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie as the recipient of our Community Partner Award. We were fortunate to be able to present the award to His Worship Mayor Christian Provenzano and Councillors Bruni and Vezeau-Allen in chambers earlier in the day.
Congratulations to our other well deserving award recipients for their outstanding work and contribution:
- Denise Elliot – Peer Volunteer Award
- Karen McKinley – Health Care Professional Award
Thanks and appreciation to our sponsors for the evening:
And our provincial sponsors;
A special thank you to the staff of Water Tower Inn for the wonderful evening and to our kind photographer Carole Stubinsky for capturing the evening for us.
