As one of the largest manufacturers of wheelchair van conversions, VMI takes great pride in building leading-edge mobility products that meet the needs of our customers. We have been constantly innovating and working to improve our products and service throughout our history. VMI began when its founders were challenged to build a better wheelchair accessible vehicle for a close family friend. They took an Oldsmobile Toronado and created easier access by dropping the floor and installing a wheelchair ramp system. This innovation was later applied to a Chrysler minivan, and VMI officially introduced the first wheelchair-accessible minivan in 1987. Continuing our quest to design and build innovative solutions, we are pleased to offer the industry’s first all-wheel drive accessible van—the 2021 VMI Toyota Sienna hybrid minivan.
