Sustaining a spinal cord injury is life changing

Each year, more than 1000 people across Ontario will experience a spinal cord injury and endure one of the most difficult journeys ahead of them. You can help them on the road to rebuilding their lives.

Quick facts:

In Ontario, there is a shortage of public coverage for essential supplies, including intermittent catheters and urinary supplies, ceiling lifts and specific types of mobility devices that are lifesaving.

In the early stages of an SCI, people may not be aware of the tools and resources available to them that can enhance their lives and help regain functions such as eating independently or getting dressed.

That’s why SCIO created the Independence Initiative.

Clients who are newly injured and are undergoing rehab will receive a knapsack filled with useful tools and supplies that are uniquely designed to help them on their journey to gaining independence.

But we need your help!

Contribute today and help someone with an SCI get back to their lives!

When you donate, you are:

Supporting entrepreneurs with disabilities who have created their own products to help others adjust to living with a disability.
Helping newly injured clients discover life changing supplies that can help them live functional lives in their communities.
Highlighting the importance of peer support and helping to bring visibility and connection among people with similar experiences and journeys.
Inspiring independence and self reliance throughout their journey to healthy and full community participation.
