We are deeply saddened by the loss of John Haddad, a long-time member of our community. John’s kind spirit and commitment to helping others will always be remembered.
Born and raised in Toronto, he embraced life with an adventurous spirit, a love for travel, and a deep affection for animals, especially his cherished companion, Princess the cat.
John had a profound connection to the spinal cord injury community, shaped by his experience with Hippel-Lindau Syndrome. Despite facing significant health challenges and undergoing rehabilitation multiple times, John’s determination and positivity inspired everyone around him. A true advocate and leader, John was deeply involved with SCIO since 1997, participating in Peer Connections, AGMs, and fundraising events like the Wheelchair Relay challenges in Toronto.
John was also a key source of encouragement and knowledge for others, often arriving early at the fitness center at Lyndhurst to connect with patients, introduce them to SCIO’s peer networks, and encourage them through their own rehab journeys. His advocacy and volunteerism left a lasting impact on those that knew him.
