Peer Support

Find your community, find yourself

You are not alone. Sometimes all we need is someone who can listen and draw from their own experience as we face a new journey in life. If you or a family member have sustained a spinal cord injury, it’s natural to have a lot of questions and experience a range of emotions. We’ve been there and are here to help.

Our SCIO Peer Support program matches people who are newly injured, and their family members, to people who have lived experience with a spinal cord injury, and who understand.

For individuals

Our Peer Support program facilitates powerful connections between people who are new to spinal cord injury and those who have lived with one for some time and want to share what they know.

For families

Caring for a loved one with a spinal cord injury can be overwhelming, as you balance their needs with managing information, medical relationships, household tasks, and your own emotions.

Become a Peer Mentor

Peer support programs recognize the value of individuals seeking help from peers who have experienced spinal cord injuries, emphasizing the role of firsthand experience in supporting recovery.
