SCIO voting members are empowered with a real stake in our organization’s future. By becoming a member, you will help elect our Board of Directors, vote on key policies, and provide valuable feedback to ensure SCIO’s direction aligns with the community’s needs.

Membership Criteria
To become a voting member of SCIO, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Live in Ontario
- Have a spinal cord injury (SCI), be a family member of someone with an SCI, or be an unpaid caregiver of someone with an SCI (this includes close friends or members of a chosen family who are emotionally and physically invested in the care of someone with an SCI, but are not paid support workers)
- Alternatively, you can be a Director of our Board
These criteria reflect our history, which began with those who had an SCI and were committed to supporting and advocating for anyone with a spinal cord injury.
Membership Requirements
The primary requirement for membership is attendance at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at least once every 3 years. The AGM is not only a time to celebrate the past year’s milestones, but it is also an opportunity for members to vote on essential matters that shape the future of SCIO. We encourage all members, including staff, to join us at the AGM to engage in discussions and participate in decision-making.
