SCIO Comedy Night 2022

SCIO Virtual Comedy Night

Does your belly still hurt from laughing?

Thank you for being part of SCIO’s Comedy Night “Laugh On-Line”. What an incredible success! Through the generous support of participants, donors and sponsors we raised over $99,000 to fund vital programs to help people rebuild their lives after spinal cord injury. Together, we are helping people find ways every day to move from “strength to strength” whether through peer support, navigation assistance, access to essential mobility and safety equipment or advocacy. None of this would be possible without your contribution!

SCIO is grateful to all our Comedy Night “Laugh On-Line” sponsors. We would especially like to express our deep gratitude for the ongoing generosity of our presenting sponsor Lerners LLP who have yet again shown their commitment to supporting SCIO and the spinal cord injury community.

Perhaps the most incredible part of this year’s event is the unprecedented collaboration and contribution of three of SCIO’s volunteer committees who stepped up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park. A huge round of applause for the members of the Southwestern Ontario Professionals Executive Committee, the Ski & Snowboard Day Committee and the GTA Professionals Executive Committee for a job well done.

Headliner: Judah Friedlander

In addition to his stand-up career of over 30 years, Judah has acted in over 30 films including his acclaimed and Independent Spirit Award-nominated performance in American Splendor, plus roles in The Wrestler and Meet the Parents. His hundreds of TV appearances include 7 seasons on the multiple Emmy award-winning 30 Rock. Judah has made two books: the instructional & inspirational karate book How To Beat Up Anybody and If the Raindrops United, his book of cartoons and drawings many of which are satire covering gentrification, corporatization, and racial oppression in America.

Co-Host: Joanne Smith

TV host, producer, nutritionist and long time friend of SCIO

Co-Host: Drew Beekler

Comedian, Host of Big Wave Comedy

Gianmarco Soresi

Gianmarco Soresi is a NY based stand-up comedian, actor and creator. His stand-up has been featured on Netflix’s Bonding, PBS’s Stories from the Stage, Real Housewives of New York

Jocelyn Chia

Jocelyn Chia is a lawyer turned comedian originally from Singapore, and is now (mostly) based in New York City. She has been a guest comedian on the Howard Stern Channel of Sirius XM, and a guest host on MTV.

The success of Comedy Night relies on the generosity of corporate leaders who invest in a future that fully involves people living with disabilities. Their support helps fuel our most promising programs and services that bring independence back into people’s lives after sustaining a spinal cord injury. We give thanks to our community of corporate champions.
