By hosting a Fundraising Event, you join forces with a vibrant community dedicated to addressing the challenges people with disabilities face. Your initiative directly enhances the quality of life, health, and mobility for those living with spinal cord injuries, making a tangible difference in countless lives.
Inside your fundraising event kit you will find:
- Who We Are/What We Do One-Pager: An overview of SCIO, outlining our mission, services, and the impact of our work. This document is ideal for informing event guests and potential sponsors about our organization.
- Fundraising Ideas: A compilation of creative and effective fundraising ideas to inspire your event planning. These suggestions are designed to suit a variety of interests and settings, providing a foundation for successful fundraising efforts.
- Hosting a fundraiser checklist: A checklist of proven strategies for planning and executing your event. These guidelines are intended to optimize your success and ensure a positive experience for all involved.
- Sample Social Media Posts: Pre-crafted content for use on social media platforms to promote your event. SCIO is committed to supporting your efforts by sharing tagged posts, helping to amplify your message.
- Sample Email Copy: Recommended verbiage for communicating with your network. This template will assist you in articulating the significance of your event and the impact of their support.
- *Fillable Poster/Flyer Template: Customizable template to aid in the advertisement of your event.

Hosting your unique fundraising event
Third-Party Event Agreement Form
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to the Terms and Conditions set forth by Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCIO) for hosting a third-party event. The full Terms and Conditions can be reviewed here.
This agreement grants me the right to use the “In Support of SCIO” logo, access to SCIO’s poster/flyer templates, a third-party event checklist, and a fact sheet about SCIO for the purpose of organizing my event.
Roles and Responsibilities
Host Responsibilities:
- The host is solely responsible for all costs associated with the event.
- The event is to be conducted in a manner that upholds SCIO’s reputation and mission.
SCIO Responsibilities:
- SCIO will provide branding materials and informational content as specified.
- SCIO does not assume any operational, financial, or legal responsibility for the event.
By signing below, I accept full responsibility for the event’s organization and conduct, freeing SCIO from any liability or costs incurred.

Fundraising Terms and Conditions
We’re committed to ensuring your fundraising experience with us is seamless and enjoyable. This document outlines SCIO’s policies, guidelines, and frequently asked questions regarding third-party fundraising events.
Third Parties are required to:
- Sign SCIO Third-Party Agreement prior to using any SCIO branded
materials for fundraising purposes - Align with SCIO’s mission, vision, and values.
- Maintain a positive image reflective of our organization.
- Obtain necessary licenses and permits if applicable.
Getting started with your fundraising event is easy:
- Complete the Third-Party Fundraising Agreement Form
- Provide SCIO with notice of your event
Guidelines
To ensure the safety and standards of SCIO, its volunteers, and staff, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Branding & Marketing:
Obtain approval before using SCIO’s name or logo *via completing the Third-Party
Agreement form. Use positive marketing and public relations tactics. - Donations and Sponsorships:
Are the sole responsibility of the host and SCIO will not provide any sponsorship or donor information. - Staffing and Volunteers:
Organizers must provide necessary staffing and recruit volunteers for the event. - Financing and Insurance:
SCIO will not underwrite any third-party event.
SCIO’s insurance does not cover third-party events. Organizers are responsible for any
damages or accidents. - Accountability:
Provide one (1) weeks’ notice for event cancellation. This is especially important if SCIO has shared any third party event information via one of the public social media accounts. Inform SCIO if the event benefits any other charities. Be responsible for any financial losses. - Lottery Licenses:
Third-party events requiring special permits must comply with government regulations. Organizers are responsible for permits and fees. - Liquor Permit:
Obtain a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the LCBO if serving alcohol. All liquor permit regulations must be followed. - Photographs:
SCIO reserves the right to display event photos and comments on various platforms. By completing the Third-Party Fundraising Events Agreement Form, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions set forth by Spinal Cord Injury Ontario. - Charitable Tax Receipts (CRA Requirement):
A charitable tax receipt is given to individuals or groups who make a donation to a registered
charity. The donations must be made directly to the Spinal Cord Injury Ontario and without
personal return. One will not get a tax receipt for purchasing a ticket to an event, sponsoring
an event, or buying an auction item or raffle ticket, etc.
In compliance with CRA requirements, please add the following donor contact information:
* donor’s name
* donor’s address (including postal code)
* donor’s telephone number (including area code)
* amount of donation
Spinal Cord Injury Ontario will provide tax receipts for donations of $10.00 and above.
