Addressing the Housing Needs of People with Spinal Cord Injury / Dysfunction
Researchers at Sunnybrook St. John’s Rehab are looking to create an evidence-based informational tool-kit to help those with spinal cord injury make decisions about finding or modifying a home.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH SPINAL CORD INJURY / DYSFUNCTION (SCI-D), FAMILY MEMBERS & PROFESSIONALS TO TAKE PART IN A STUDY EXPLORING HOUSING NEEDS.
This qualitative study is asking members of the SCI/D community to take part in a 1 hour interview or focus group to discuss:
- Acquiring housing post-SCI/D;
- Challenges being experienced with housing;
- Strategies & solutions to optimize housing.
This project is part of a larger initiative to develop a Tool-Kit to help people with SCI/D optimize their housing.
Who is eligible to participate:
The Home Accessibility Toolkit Project is now open for research participation and is recruiting:
- Canadians living with spinal cord injury;
- Family caregivers for those living with spinal cord injury; and
- Professionals working in Canada who help people find, create or advocate for accessible housing.
What is involved:
Completing a 5 minute online survey and 45-60 minute Interview or focus groups over the phone or Zoom.
