The Longest Drive

The 5th Annual OT Consult Ergo Golf Invitational took place Thursday, July 7th at the Pine View Golf Course in Ottawa. There was a great turnout of 15 foursomes on the course playing in support of SCIO’s Enhancing Independence Program that provides essential safety and mobility equipment to people in need. This year’s event raised over $5000!

We couldn’t have wished for a nicer day or a more exciting finish. The tournament resulted in a 3-way tie, with OMS 2, ProMotion, and Team SCIO each having to choose one player to represent them in a shootout.

As Team SCIO’s Jimmy Dubash played the course in his wheelchair, each player in the tiebreaker had to attempt their best shot from a seated position. OMS 2 was victorious, with team member Jesse Mousseau hitting the longest drive. Congratulations to our winning team – Jesse Mousseau, Kylie Bilz, Nick Forrester, and Leo Stewart.

A sincere thank you to our host sponsor OT Consult Ergo, who made this entire event possible. Of course, it could not have taken place without the support of our sponsors. A huge shout out to DLCANA for feeding the masses. Aura Design graciously sponsored the Hole-In-One, providing golfers with the exciting opportunity to win a 55” exterior flat screen TV. The much-appreciated drink cart was sponsored by Conval-Aid. And thank you to all our hole sponsors: Motion Composites, TD-Michael McAuley, National Seating & Mobility, Modern OT and Auger Hollingsworth.

A slew of great prizes and auction items added to the fun of the day with exciting donations ranging from our big ticket raffle item, a Bowers & Wilkins speaker from Aura Design, spa treatments from Holtz Spa, to admissions to Escape Manor!

Thank you to all our incredible community partners: Aura Design, Escape Manor, Holtz Spa, Hintonburg Public House, BATL Axe Throwing, A/Maze, Bushtukah, Bridgehead, OMS, TLC Medical Supply, The Massage Therapy Company, Wakefield Mill and Spa, and Absolute Comedy.

A special thank you to our beverage sponsor, Overflow Brewery. Alex and Kareem kept golfers hydrated and happy with their sampling tent on the 16th hole and provided a great take home gift for everyone.

Volunteers Elyse, Karen, and Lesley and SCIO staffers Wendy, Chris, Federico, and Rena helped the event go down without a hitch – thank you all for your help!
