SCIO is part of the E-Scooter Coalition, led by CNIB, which aims to ban e-scooters in Toronto. E-scooters have been known to cause injuries to pedestrians in cities where their use has been allowed, and they pose added risks for people with disabilities, including those with vision loss and those who use mobility devices to navigate the streets.
The coalition meets monthly and coordinates meetings with the City Council to address the risks of e-scooters.
We will inform our community of critical updates about this initiative and encourage you to follow the initiative in-depth on the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) Alliance website.
