Public Policy, Advocacy Committee – Call for applications

Our work matters.

There are more than 40,000 people living with an SCI in Ontario and more join our community every day. It’s our job to help strengthen their skills, opportunities and resolve to move from injury to independent living within a fully accessible and equitable province, just as our founders envisioned.

The SCIO Board Advocacy Committee focusses on issues of systemic advocacy pertinent to the membership across the province of Ontario. The Advocacy Committee provides oversight, support and advice to management on matters related to public policy and advocacy. Current initiatives include access to medical supplies, access to mobility devices and access to primary care.

The Opportunity

We are seeking Community members with lived experience in SCI or in the field with a keen interest in supporting SCIO public policy efforts who can identify individuals and organizations that can support the efforts of SCIO’s public policy. An interest or experience with systemic barriers that impact people with SCI in Ontario.
